Projects

The goal of our Female Controlled Methods for HIV Prevention program is to evaluate new and existing technologies to prevent HIV and STIs that women can use without having to negotiate with a male partner.

Objectives:

  • To test new technologies, such as microbicides, that women can use to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted infections without their male partner's knowledge.

  • To evaluate existing technologies, such as the diaphragm, that women can use to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted infections without their male partner's knowledge.

  • To examine existing technologies, such as hormonal contraception, for their impact on women's susceptibility to HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
