Safe Motherhood Program

The goal of our Safe Motherhood program is to reduce the number of deaths and illnesses associate with pregnancy and childbirth.

Objectives:

  • To evaluate new and existing tools for prevention of maternal mortality and morbidity, such as the Non-pneumatic Anti-Shock Garment to prevent mortality due to post-partum hemorrhage.

  • To examine and improve health care systems to minimize maternal mortality and morbidity, and to increase women's safety.

  • To evaluate traditional medicines for prevention of maternal mortality and morbidity, such as the traditional Tibetan medicine Zhi Byed 11, to help prevent post-partum hemorrhage.
