Contents:

Objectives

Projects

The goal of our Women Controlled HIV/STI Prevention Tools program is to evaluate new and existing technologies to prevent HIV and STIs that women can use without having to negotiate with a male partner.

Objectives:

  • To test new technologies, such as microbicides, that women can use to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted infections without their male partner's knowledge.

  • To evaluate existing technologies, such as the diaphragm, that women can use to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted infections without their male partner's knowledge.

  • To examine existing technologies, such as hormonal contraception, for their impact on women's susceptibility to HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
